Prelim Wheel 3/22: We will have a losing week with a $50K loss.

  2. WEEK 28 SUMMARY – Part I

This was supposed to be a week of Superheroes.  Unfortunately we had very few, but the biggest of the week took the title of champion to J!’s long-delayed ToC champ.  Here is how Week 28 went down…

    DAYTIME

LMAD –  Owing to March Madness, we began our shortened CBS week with hopes we would have our first perfect and/or Winning Week. Monday’s show (with all those wins, and our best show of the week) looked as though we were headed in that direction. But by the next day we were back to our usual losing ways, with our only Car BD this week lost behind the infamous Door #1, and a Vault Out for $6464 (if you had figured that one out, 64just happens to be the last two digits of the year 1964, 20 years before the third incarnation of the show premiered in syndication…Get it?). The week-capper on Wednesday also saw a car loss, but we had a $20K Vault In with the End Game as we prevented a second Flameout. Although we statistically ended up with a non-winning week, it least it wasn’t entirely losing! (Statistical 50/50 Split Week)

TPIR – The perfect week to have Money Game played right off the bat as the first PG of the week, the first such occurrence since May 1 of last year, on the same week we had a huge loss by one player on Wednesday.  Because of Money Game alone, Bobby rules this week MISSING, and thus we refer you to https://gameshowquickies.wordpress.com/2024/03/21/the-price-is-right-season-52-week-25-stats/comment-page-1/#comment-4709 for a proper summary. (Missing Week)

J! – For once, Ken Jennings did not have to stump the panel once this week, resulting in some excellent Main Games with very few DD misses and a few instances where a wrong answer actually won the game…such as the case with the final game of this season’s ToC on Tuesday’s show (more on that shortly).  The remainder of the week began yet another Tourney, this time the Invitational Tournament, with a slight goof up in Friday’s End Game.  Still, some great plays overall, some of the best this season. (Winning Week)

WOF – This was supposed to be the inaugural Marvel Superheroes Week (and because of Marvel’s ties with Disney and ABC, no cars were offered here this week).  We did yield two big winners, Wednesday’s BR play for $100K, and Thursday’s BR win of $75K (more on their winners later).  But our overall week negated those wins as Monday had our fifth $100K loss of the season by Cairo Hunter (and he statistically isn’t GOOSE EGG/ZONK CONTESTANT OF THE WEEK for reasons we will discuss momentarily), followed by a $40K loss on Tuesday and a $50K loss on Friday to end our overall Week 28.  Thanos definitely gained a victory at ABC.  Someone said on the forums that new theme weeks don’t fare too well.  Well, that person was right.  More villains, few heroes, and a Cardinal Sinner to boot. (Losing Week)

PRIMETIME (aside from other serial shows such as THE VOICE without a definitive outcome):

REGULAR COMPETITION – Malak and Mary successful in both Acts of PASSWORD, and celebrity Joe Bastianichwas exposed as THE MASKED SINGER.

REALITY COMPETITIONS – Kim was booted from DEAL OR NO DEAL ISLAND; Bhanu was quickly shown the door on SURVIVOR; and the duo of Chris & Mary Foster was the 2nd team to be eliminated from this week’s THE AMAZING RACE.

COOKING SHOWS – Lydia & Kristell were thrown out from MASTERCHEF JUNIOR; in back-to-back episodes, Sandro and Zoe each lose their respective episodes of SPRING BAKING CHAMPIONSHIPLena Le was the latest CHOPPED champion; Antonia won WILDCARD KITCHEN; ladies Abbie and Christa share $20K in GUY’S GROCERY GAMES; and Chris was the latest to be voted out of NEXT LEVEL CHEF.

Due to Money Game’s early Monday play, part two of our assessment will be up later on GSQ.  But this much is certain, folks…

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Yogesh Maut, as your 2023-24 J! Tournament of Champions winner at $250K, the most won of any player this week, takes Week 28’s Top Title.  Congratulations to you, Yogesh!

See you at GSQ later for the rest of the results, and join us again Sunday for the start of Week 29!

GSQ’s end of week decisions, as well as this week’s final count, is up at https://gameshowquickies.wordpress.com/2024/03/22/contestant-of-the-week-for-march-18-22-2024/ …sadly, so does the continuing feud between Ismael and deepscan, ignoring facts for the former’s own sentimental purposes…you have been warned, fans.
